Apple MacBook Air

MacBook Air
On the 15th of January Steve Jobs presented to the world the latest Apple product: MacBook Air, "the world's thinnest notebook" ( that's not quite the case.. in 1997 Mitsubishi and HP developed the Pedion ultra thin laptop, thinner that the macbook air - read more about this here ).

The Apple ultra thin laptop is quite a piece on engineering, packed with the latest technology (custom-built Intel processor, backlit LED display, multitouch). The design is very Apple like, simple, elegant and functional. The tech-specs are decent for an ultra-portable laptop: 13,3" display, full keyboard, 2gb ram, 1.6-1.8 Ghz core 2 duo Intel processor, 80gb hdd, wireless(n), iSight webcam and the price tag starts at $1,799.

I don't like the fact that it doesn't have an optical unit (there is an optional external one for an extra 100$). I think that the dvd is not dead yet.. not by far.

The presence of only one usb port is also a setback. I think that a minimum of 3 usb ports are needed for everyday use.
